The Vixen Optics ED80Sf is an excellent choice for an amateur astronomer wanting a great value in an apochromatic refractor telescope. It travels well, doubling as a great terrestrial spotting scope from stationary positions or for very short hikes. The ED80Sf offers similar high quality glass and workmanship that Vixen Optics incorporates into their larger instruments. Because of its apochromatic refractor optical design, images are free from chromatic aberration, and it renders high resolution planetary, lunar, and deep-sky visual images. Expect brilliant high-magnification lunar and planetary viewing, as well as good galaxy observing. The ED80Sf is immediately ready for imaging; you can attach a Vixen T-mount directly to the focuser, but more commonly it is possible to use the included flip mirror with a T-mount on the back.
