2.2 Determine the IP address of your ZyXEL handset
If you would like access the ZyXEL phone’s web interface you first have to determine the
phone’s IP address.
1. From the main window, press the upper left button for Menu.
2. Select 1. Information
3. Select 2. IP Address
4. Note the displayed IP address, e.g. 192.168.30.31.
2.3 Accessing the ZyXEL web-server
The ZyXEL has a built in web server. To access this you simply enter the IP address on your
ZyXEL phone in your web browser’s address field, e.g. http://192.168.30.31
. The default
username is admin and the default password 1234.
2.4 Limit the size of IP packets
Since your ZyXEL handset does not handle IP fragmentation, please do the following to limit
the size of IP packets:
2.4.1 With firmware 3.16 or higher
Open a web browser and surf into your Internet Gate (http://192.168.0.1). In the SIP
Advanced menu below the Advanced header, enter 1300 bytes in the text field Try
make UDP messages smaller when exceeding.
2.4.2 With prior firmware
Open a web browser and enter in the address field
http://192.168.0.1/edit.asp?file=/usr/sipadv.cfg. Enter the line sip.rm.via=<IP
address>, where you enter your phone’s IP address instead of <IP address> (e.g. enter the
line sip.rm.via=192.168.30.31 if the IP address of your ZyXEL phone is
192.168.30.31). In order to realize the new settings either a) restart the Internet Gate or b)
from the main menu in the Internet Gate web interface, go to the SIP Advanced settings,
reload the page and then save settings. Your Internet Gate should now be updated with the
new settings.
