Change RAID Type
You can change t he following RAI D t ypes without losing st ored dat a. This can help you m anage your
st orage capacity as you add m ore disks.
Expand Volumes or Disk Groups
As your cont ent grows, you can do t he following t o expand t he storage capacity of a volum e or disk
group wit hout losing st ored dat a.
Use t he Volum e screen t o configure and m anage int ernal volum es. From the I nter na l St ora ge
screen, click V olum e t o open t he screen as show n.

METHOD
DESCRIPTION
Using
unallocat ed disk
space
You can add m ore storage space to a volum e if t here is still some space unallocat ed on the
sam e disk group.
Adding disks You can add one or m ore disks to a JBOD, RAI D 1 or RAI D 5.
The hard disk you want t o add m ust have capacit y equal t o or greater t han t he sm allest
disk in t he volum e or disk group.
Replacing w ith
larger disks
You can r eplace sm aller disks in a RAI D 1, RAI D 5, or RAI D 6 wit h larger disks.
Replace disks one-by- one.
Replace the sm allest disk in t he volum e or disk gr oup first .
After replacing a disk, you m ust use the I n te rn al Stora ge screen’s Ma nage link t o repair
the volum e.
Wait for the repair process t o com plet e before you replace anot her disk.
