Replacing sm aller disks in a RAI D 1, RAI D 5, or RAI D 6 wit h larger capacity hard disks did not
expand t he storage capacit y.
The NAS norm ally expands t he st orage capacity by itself after rebuilding t he RAI D but m ay not if
the NAS reboot ed during t he RAI D re- build.
Aft er the re- build finishes, go to t he St orage screens and select the volum e or disk group and click
Manage and use Ex pa nd t he volum e w it h un allocate d disk spa ce.
28.9 Firmware
I want to know the firm ware version on the NAS.
Go to t he St a t us screen. The Fir m w are field shows you the current firm ware version running.
28.10 File Transfer
I want t o t ransfer m y file(s) from m y local com put er or storage device t o t he NAS.
• Aft er you initialize your hard disk, you can direct ly access t he folders in your NAS and t ransfer
files in the sam e way you t ransfer files in your local com put er:
1 On your Windows com puter, click Start > Run or open a web browser.
2 Enter \ \ nas followed by t he num ber of your m odel ( 5 4 0 for exam ple) or t he Serve r N am e you
assigned t he NAS. This shows you t he folders in the NAS.
3 Use drag- and- drop or copy- and- paste t o transfer files over to your NAS.
• Use the COPY/ SYNC button t o transfer files from an ext ernal ( USB) st orage device t o the NAS.
