10.5 UPnP Port Mapping Screen
Use UPnP ( Universal Plug and Play) port m apping to allow access from the WAN t o services you
select on the NAS. I t is recom m ended t hat you place t he NAS behind an I nt ernet gateway firewall
device to protect t he NAS from attacks from the I nt ernet. Many such I nt ernet gat eways use UPnP
to sim plify peer- t o- peer net work connect ivity bet ween devices. UPnP can autom atically configure
the I nt ernet gat eway’s firewall and Net work Address Translation ( NAT) to allow access to t he NAS
from t he I nt ernet .
