Why This Works:

Any wet surface is conductive in a tank

or pit. Normally this isn't a problem,

but if the pit gets water from a water

softener this water film is very conductive

and gives an alternate path to ground

(Path A) for the lower sensor. If the

sensor is mounted from a pipe

suspended from the top of the pit the

alternate path (Path B) dead ends

when it reaches the dry part of the

pipe above the upper sensor.
