The Zircon StudSensor
™
SL finds the edges of wood
and metal studs up to ¾ in. (19 mm) deep in walls.
The StudSensor
™
Pro SL locates the edges of studs
and joists up 1½ in. (38 mm) deep in walls, floors,
and ceilings. Both feature a sleek, high-impact case, a
built-in belt clip, and the SpotLite
®
Pointing System.
1. INSTALLING THE BATTERY
NOTE: DO NOT LOOSEN OR REMOVE SCREW ON BACK OF
THE UNIT.
Squeeze sides of unit to
help release clip end.
Slide 9-V battery into
compartment, terminal
side first, matching (+)
and (-) terminals from
battery to case.
Replace the clip.

5. SCANNING DIFFERENT SURFACES
Freshly painted walls: May take one week or longer to
dry after application.

Pro SL
FUNCTION NORMALLY ON WALLS COVERED WITH WALLPAPER OR
fabric, unless the materials are metallic foil, contain
metallic fibers, or are still wet after application.
Lath & plaster: Due to irregularities in plaster thickness,
this tool is not recommended for use on lath & plaster.

Pro SL cannot scan
for wood studs and joists through ceramic tile or carpeting
and pad.
Note: Sensing depth and accuracy can vary due to
moisture, content of materials, wall texture, and paint.

2. FINDING A STUD
Always scan for studs with the scanner placed flat against
the wall. Place the tool flat against the wall, then press
and hold the Power button. Wait
for beep to confirm calibration has
COMPLETED BEFORE MOVING SCANNER
Continue to hold in the Power button
then slowly slide unit horizontally
across the wall, right or left. As you
begin to approach a stud, the red
,%$S WILL LIGHT SUCCESSIVELY FROM
bottom to top.
When the top green LED is lit,
the SpotLite
®
beam shines, and
A STEADY TONE SOUNDS YOU HAVE
located the edge of the stud.
Mark this spot.
Without releasing Power button,
continue scanning beyond marked
spot until green LED goes out. Slide
UNIT IN REVERSE DIRECTION TO LOCATE
other edge of stud.
Mark this second
spot. Middle of stud is
centered between the
two marks.

)F YOU HAVE DIFFICULTY LOCATING A STUD AFTER FOLLOWING 3TEP IT
could be that the stud is deep (the walls are thick). With the
unit still placed flat against the wall and turned on, quickly
(within one second) release and re-press the Power button.
The DEEPSCAN
®
LED will light up. Scan for studs again,
using the highest LED indicated as the edge of the stud.
4. OPERATING TIPS
For optimum scanning results:
s (OLD THE TOOL STRAIGHT UP AND DOWN PARALLEL TO THE STUDS
and do not rotate the tool.
s +EEP TOOL FLAT AGAINST THE WALL AND DO NOT ROCK TILT OR PRESS
