COMSPHERE 3000 Series Carrier

Overview
The COMSPHERE 3000 Series Carrier is a metal
enclosure that has seventeen slots for installing circuit
cards. The Shared Diagnostic Unit (SDU) uses Slot 0; the
other sixteen slots are for devices. This number is reduced
by one slot for:
• Dial/lease multiport modems, which occupy two
slots.
• DSU with MUX card. The MUX card for TDM or
MCMP is physically attached to a DSU, and the
two cards occupy two slots.
• Digital bridge applications, where each DBM-X
also occupies a separate slot.
Standard Carrier Equipment
Each carrier is shipped with the items listed below
bundled in a plastic bag:
• Six cable ties
• Two fuses (spares)
• Four #10-32 mounting screws
• Four cabinet #12-24 mounting screws and four
self-retaining nuts for use with cabinets without
threaded screw holes
• One jumper wire for the frame ground/signal
ground
In addition, the carrier is shipped with a power cord
and power transformer unit. Figure 2-1 shows a fully
loaded carrier.
