Introduction
Overview
This manual covers the family of optional Headset Jackbox models manufactured by
Zetron and used to interface standard headsets and handsets to Zetron console positions.
The jackbox offerings can be divided into two groups, based on the connector type used
by the headset. The configurations supported are:
Dual-prong connector Headset Jackbox types
Jackbox with no volume knob part number 950-1175
Jackbox with single volume knob part number 950-1082
Jackbox with dual volume knobs part number 950-1077
XLR type connector Headset Jackbox types
Jackbox with no volume knob part number 950-1187
Jackbox with single volume knob part number 950-1185
Jackbox with dual volume knobs part number 950-1186
The dual-knob version is usually employed in systems where the console positions handle
both telephone and radio traffic. The single-knob version is typically used where the
console positions only handle telephone or radio, but not both at once. The no-knob
version is for use in systems where the volume for various audio sources is adjusted by
means of a control that is part of the console graphical user interface (GUI).
The following figure shows the dual-knob jackbox. (The front panel view on the left; rear
panel view on the right.) The single-knob and no-knob jackboxes are identical except the
absent volume knob positions are filled by a plug. The knobs are not labeled until after
installation, at which point their actual purpose is known.
