Starting and Opera tingStarting and Opera ting
First Time Set-Up
If your motorcycle was direct-shipped you will need to
perform the following:
1. Remove the motorcycle from its shipping crate. See
Unp
acking Your Zero motorcycle on page
4.2.
2. Your Zero motorcycle is shipped fully charged from the
factory. If necessary, see
“Power Pack”, on page 4.5.
3. Identify and inspect wheels for spoke tension and/or
damage (DS only).
4. Check the tire pressure and adjust to proper
specifica
tions. See
“Tire Inflation”, on page 5.13.
5. Inspect the hydraulic brake system. Follow the
hydrau
lic line from the reservoirs to the calipers and
verify that there are no leaks or damage to the brake
lines. Verify that the brakes function properly.
6. Make sure the motorcycle key switch is OFF
, then twist
the throttle to make sure its rotation is smooth, and it
returns correctly.
7. Inspect bolts and make sure they are tight. See
page
5.9 for general maintenance information. Double
check the fork, wheel, and brake bolts.
8. Insert the key in the key swi
tch and turn the key to the
ON position. The gauge performs a self test sweep.
The charge indicator should read fully charged.
