James Thomas Engineering Super Truss Systems
Thomas Engineering has completely rethought truss design to encompass the ever
changing demands of the touring industry. Consequently, its Super Truss design
features double end connectors, which are oriented so that the truss elements are
unisex (they can be used either way). Super Truss also saves truck space because of
its very high strength in relation to its size, and also the space saving design of the
corners: for the 2-way corner, only a connecting gate is required to brace between
the outer fork connectors; while the 3-way corner only requires a connecting
gate and two square connecting plates; and the 4-way corner requires just two
square connecting plates. In order to use the Super Truss with towers, two sleeve
connecting plates with roller wheels are required with one or two uprights depending
on the number of truss connections. Thomas Super Truss is readily available in 20.5"
x 20.5" box, 20.5" x 30" box, 18" x 12" box, 12" x 12" box, and also in a 20.5” x 30”

This double-hung 30" x 26" truss
has been produced to meet the need
for a lighter, more versatile modular
base unit, combined with great
strength and portability. Fully welded
construction design based on light but
heavy-duty tubing, provides maximum
strength and ease of handling, while
its free running casters provide easy
maneuvering. Standard Thomas lamp
bars are incorporated featuring fast,
easy access to all electrics. Assembly
and break down is speeded up by the
use of multi-pin connectors and bolts.
The complete lighting bar rig lowers for
quick focus adjustments and gel tting,
with its xtures on 15" centers for
maximum focusability. Modular units
are available in a number of different
lengths to give greater exibility for
set up design. This truss is the ideal
system for reliable performance,
lightness, strength, easy access, and
the fastest possible load-in/load-out
time.

Ground Support Systems
The Ground Support System was
produced to meet the requirement of
lifting a box grid system and still
retain towers within a truss structure
conguration. Thomas has made this
possible by modifying its corner block,
and by incorporating a unique double
roller sleeve system. For the One Ton
System, the 12" x 12" tower passes
through and allows the tower’s base
to be very compact, retaining total
maneuverability and adjustment via
rollers and jacks. The Two Ton is a 15"
x 15" tower system for longer spans
and heavier loads. CM Lodestar chain
hoists are the recommended lifting
mediums for both Ground Support
Systems.

T-6 in the USA and of 6082 T-6 aluminum alloy in the UK, all Thomas Truss is engineered to the highest American and British
standards. Main chords are constructed of 2” O.D. with 1/8” wall, and the diagonals are constructed of 1” O.D. tubing.
