ParentalControlofferstheusera widevarietyofoptionsandsettingsthatrestrictor"block"theprogrammingthatcan
appearontheTV.Parentalcontrolallowstheuserthecapabi[ityofdefiningwhichprogramratingtheyconsideraccept-
able,totheyoungerormoresensitiveviewer.Itcanbe presetandturnedeitheron oroffbytheuserwho specifiesthe
secret4-numbercode,thepassword.The numberofhoursblockedarespecified.Forcompletecoverage,Genera[Audience
and Childrenviewerblocksshouldbothbe programmedintotheTV'smemory. ViewerratingsarespecifiedforbothTV and
themotionpictureindustry;bothratingsystemscanbe used.The ratingsarebasedmainlyon theagesofchi[dren.
Overview
To insure complete coveragefor at[ TV programs, (movies and regutar TV shows) choosea rating for MPAA,fromthe selec-
tions below ANDchoose ratings from the TV Parental.Gulde[inesRating System on the next page, using the Age Brock
option for Genera[Audiences, and for Children.In addition to those, you may wish to inctude additiona[ restrictions from
the ContentBlock menu. Seethe Parenta[ Contro[ menu, and submenusexample on the next page.
Things to Consider before Setting Up Parental Control
Determinewhichrating you consideracceptableto the viewer. (Forexample,if you chooseTV-PG,at[ morerestrictive
ratings will be automaticallyblocked;the viewer wilt not be able to see: TV-PG,1_/-14,or TV-MArated programming.)
Doyou want to block the auxiliaryvideo source entirety?(B|ocks the signal sent bythe equipment,such as a VCR,con-
nected to the TV Audio/Videoinput jacks;in the Aux. Blockoption.) Or[eaveunb[ocked,and havethe restrictionsyou
specifiedfilter the content fromthe video source.
Brock program "Content" based on individual parameters such as: Strong Dia[og, Bad Language,SexScenes,Vio[ence
Scenes,or FantasyViolence Scenes;in the Content B[k option.
How many hours do you want Parenta[ Contro[ to be active? You can set the Hours option for up to 9g hours.
Setect a secret password;in the Set Passwordoption. Usethe number keyson the remote.Don't forget the password,it is
the only way you can accessthe Parenta[ Control menu and changerating se[ections, or turn Parental Control off.
Doyou want Parenta[Control to beactive al[ the time? If not, you canturn it on or off; with the Lock On/Off option.
