Disabling Front Panel or Remote
If you are using th e rear p a n el IR jack , you might want to disable t h e
IR sensors to prevent use of th e remote control.
Or if you have a household w i t h yo u ng curious f i n gers that likes
playing with buttons, you also have the capabi l i t y of di s a b l ing the
fro n t panel switches an d o nly operating the H D V I 5 with a remote.
To e n a b le / disable t h e fro nt panel switches o r remote c a p a b ilities...
Step 1: Enter the Setup Mode
Th e HDVI5 is pl a ce d i n to t h e setup mode by pressing a n d
holding the Power bu t ton for abo u t 4 seconds.
Step 2: Enter the Enable / Disable control state
While in the set u p mode, pre ss '4' to enter the Ena b l e /
Disable control state. The cur rent statu s w i ll be displayed
using the front panel L E D s.
A Blue LED in d i c ate s an option is e n abled, and Red LE D
indicates disabled.
Step 3: Enable or Disable Front Panel and / or IR control
Use '1' to enable / d i s a ble the IR J a c k hard ware.
Use '2' to enable / d i s a ble the IR S ensor hardware.
Use '3' to enable / d i s a ble the front panel b u t to n s.
Use '4' to enable / d i s a ble IR control.
Note 1: Wh en disabling t h e IR Jack and IR S ensor, the ac tual
hardwa re i s disabled. Wh ere as 'IR Co nt ro l' enables /
disables whet h e r the HDVI5 responds to IR s i g nals re -
ce i ved. The d i f ference mostly concerns reading IR s i g -
nals through the R S -232 po r t. If t h e IR Sens o r and Jack
are enabled, and 'IR Control' disa b l e d, IR s i g n als can still
be read through the RS -232 por t, while b e i n g ignored by
the HDVI5.
Note 2: Disabling t h e front panel buttons do e s not disable t h e
ability to enter th e S etup Mode s. Eve n with the front
panel disable d you c a n per form the above steps, allow-
ing yo u to once again enable t h e fro nt panel buttons.
Note 3: Th e n ew settings are save d i n non-volat i le memor y and
are not affected by a p ower failure.

Step 1: Place the HDVI5 into the Setup Mode
Press and hold the Power Button until the
display goes wild. (About 4 seconds.)
Step 2: Enter the Enable / Disable control state.

After ‘4’ is pressed, the standby
LED continues to flash, and the
front panel will display the cur-
rent settings.
