Appendix B – Using the Serial/USB Interface
Overview
Every DP-550 is equipped with a Serial Interface. Optional cables are available to provide RS-232C or USB
connectivity. The serial interface is provided using an “RJ” type connector located on the left side of the
printer. The connector pin assignments are shown below.

In addition to the connector described above, DP-550si printers have a DB9F Serial Data/Power connector
located on the right hand side of the printer. This connector provides connections for power input and contains
duplicate signals from the RJ connector. An unterminated cable is provided with each printer and is described
in
Figure 12.
