3 Hardware Installation
The switch is designed to be installed in either a standard 19-inch equipment rack or simply placed on a suitable
desktop or shelf surface. If you will mount your switch in a rack then plan your rack installation and install the
switch chassis in the rack. Be sure to take into account switch cooling requirements.
Observe the following guidelines when selecting a location for switch installation:
• Maintain a temperature of 0
° to 50° C (32° to 122° F) and non-condensing humidity within 10% to 95%.
• Provide space for adequate airflow.
• Status LEDs should be clearly visible.
• Ensure that twisted-pair cables are always routed away from the power lines, fluorescent lighting
fixtures and other sources of electrical interference.
3.1 Rack Mount Installation
To install the switch in a rack:
1. Attach the brackets to the switch using the screws provided in the Bracket Mounting Kit.
