Follow these steps if PCC digit 3 = A, PCC digit 7 = 3 or 4 and PCC digit 12 = 1 thru 3:

Installing a Smart Card Reader

If PCC digit 12 = 2 or 3:

1. Loosen the CPU Board and plug the Smart Card connector into J12 of the CPU

Board.

2. Route the cable underneath the CPU Board, over the battery latch, and around the

Magnetic Card Reader.

3. Insert the Smart Card Reader into the oval retainer in the chassis, with the wire

passing through the cutout in the oval retainer, until the two pins in the retainer tabs

snap into the two mating recesses in the smart card reader.

4. Push the smart card wire into the lower chassis, around the top cover and out of the

way of the magnetic card reader slot.

You must use an ESD strap and work at a properly grounded

workstation (antistatic mat or tray). All electronic components must

be placed on an ESD protective tray. If stored, any electronic

components must be placed in antistatic bags.
