COMPOUND GEAR KIT, CAMEO 2 & 3- AN16793-004
Removing the Gears
1. Remove the media and battery. Refer to the
Cameo Users Manual
.
2. Remove the Top Cover. Refer to “Top Cover - Cameo 2 & 3.”
3. Loosen the CPU Board (4 screws in Cameo 2 or 2 screws and a clip in Cameo 3).
Refer to either “CPU Board - Cameo 2” or “CPU Board - Cameo 3.”
4. Loosen the Printer Assembly (3 screws in Cameo 2 or 2 screws in Cameo 3). Refer
to either “Printer Assembly - Cameo 2” or “Printer Assembly - Cameo 3.”
5. Remove the 2 socket head screws from the gear cover.
6. Pull the gears off from the gear shafts.
Installing the Gears
1. Install the Gears.
1a. Orient the small Compound Gear as shown and slide it over the shaft. The larger
diameter gear should mesh with the pinion on the Motor.
1b. Orient the large Compound Gear as shown and slide it over its shaft so that it
meshes with the small gear.
2. Install the Gear Cover
Align the Gear Cover so that the two small holes fit over the two gear shafts and the
two large holes align with the two larger bosses. Secure with (2) #2-56 x 3/16” Self-
Tapping Screws.
3. Install the Printer Assembly Refer to either “Printer Assembly - Cameo 2” or “Printer
Assembly - Cameo 3.”
4. Secure the CPU Board. Refer to either “CPU Board - Cameo 2” or “CPU Board -
Cameo 3.”
5. Install the Top Cover. Refer to “Top Cover - Cameo 2 & 3.”
6. Install the Media and Battery. Refer to the
Cameo User’s Manual
.
You must use an ESD strap and work at a properly grounded
workstation (antistatic mat or tray). All electronic components must
be placed on an ESD protective tray. If stored, any electronic
components must be placed in antistatic bags.
Be careful not to damage the actuator on the head open switch
while working on the Cameo Chassis.
