Tools needed
• #1 Phillips Head Screwdriver.
• ESD strap and mat
Installing the Platen Spring
Install the left hand (yellow finish) and right hand (silver finish) Platen Springs.
The Right Hand Platen Spring (silver finish).
Note: The open side of the loop on the Platen spring must face the front of the printer.
Note Refer to figures below and on the next page.
1. Open the Media Cover and remove the media.
2. Remove the Top Cover.
3. Loosen the Printer Assembly by removing the 3 screws (Step 1A).
4. Insert short arm of Platen Spring into Printer Frame (Step 1B).
5. Rotate the Spring until the long arm is vertical (Step 2).
6. Slide the Spring into the Printer Frame (Step 3).
7. Rotate the short arm of the Platen Spring as shown, while bending it against the
stop.
8. Slide the short arm of the Platen Spring into the groove in the Printer Body. The
short arm should hook over the projection inside the printer (Step 4, view A-A).

You must use an ESD strap and work at a properly grounded
workstation (antistatic mat or tray). All electronic components must
be placed on an ESD protective tray. If stored, any electronic
components must be placed in antistatic bags.
Be careful not to damage the actuator on the head open switch
while working on the Cameo Chassis.
