The following procedure sets the darkness of the printing on the label.
1. Press MODE. The pause and darken LEDs turn on.
2. Press FEED (V) to increase or CANCEL (W) to decrease the darkness setting.
Refer to Figure 2-11 on page 2-16.
Refer to Figure 2-13.
3. Press MODE three times. The mode LEDs flash to indicate the settings have been
saved permanently to memory.
4. Press PAUSE to exit Pause Mode and turn off the pause LED.
Caution:
Set Print Darkness to the lowest setting possible for desired print quality. Darkness set
too high may cause ink smearing, ribbon wrinkle, or ribbon burning.
Note • It is not necessary to turn the printer power off to adjust this parameter.
Example 1 • The configuration label lists a darkness setting 20. You know your media
and ribbon combination should be 15. Press CANCEL (W) five times.
Example 2 • After running the Feed Key Self Test, you have determined that the label
that looks the best has a relative darkness of 03. Press FEED (V) three times.
Example 3 • After manually resetting the darkness to the factory default of 10, you run
the Pause Key Self Test and determine the labels are too light. Make your best
estimate and press FEED (V) the necessary number of times.
