Refer to Figure 2-14. This self test places the printer in a Communications Diagnostics
Mode, in which the printer prints the ASCII characters and their corresponding
hexadecimal values for any data received from the host computer.
To start the Mode Key Self Test, press and hold MODE while turning the power On (l).

If it is ever necessary to return the printer configuration to factory default values, press
FEED and PAUSE at the same time while turning the power On (l). The default values
remain active until the power is turned off. To save the default values in memory, press
MODE four times. The darken, position, and calibrate LEDs cycle on and then off,
indicating the values have been saved. Refer to Table 2-2 for a list of factory default
values.

To reset the communication parameters only, press and hold FEED, PAUSE, and MODE
while turning the power On (l). The communication parameters are reset to 9600 baud,
8 bit work length, no parity, and 1 stop bit.
To make these settings permanent, press MODE four times. The darken, position, and
calibrate LEDs flash, indicating the changes have been saved. To return to Printing Mode,
turn the power off then on.
Note • The printer data cable must be connected to the host computer during this self
test.
