1. What is the difference between a 2844 and a 2844-Z?
The 2844 has a main logic board to support EPL. It cannot support ZPL
The 2844-Z has a main logic board and electronics architecture to support ZPL. It
cannot support EPL. The 2844-Z is fully ZPL compatible.
2. Do the 2844 and 2844-Z have the same serial port parameters?
No. While both are RS-232, the serial port pin outs are different. The 2844 uses a
straight through serial cable and the 2844-Z uses a null-modem serial cable.
• 2844-Z serial cable part number = 25949M
• 2844 serial cable part number = 300017-006
3. Can I use and 2844 Windows Driver for the 2844-Z?
The previously available Windows Driver will not work for the both 2844 and the
2844-Z. A new version driver will be released with the 2844-Z which will provide
Windows support.
4. Will the Zebra Keyboard Display Unit (KDU) work with the 2844-Z?
No, currently the KDU is only compatible with EPL-based printers. However, a
custom script with cable adaptor is under development which will enable the KDU
to be used with the 2844-Z. Please check the Zebra web site for updates on
availability of this product.
5. How does a 2844-Z differ from a Zebra DA/T402?

6. Will the TLP 2844-Z ribbons work with the T402?
Yes. Ribbons for the TLP 2844-Z can be used on the T402 – note: the ribbon
length is different. The TLP 2844-Z has a 1:1 ratio of ribbon to media. T402
ribbons may not be used with the TLP 2844-Z.
