Select a Communication Interface
The way that you con nect yo ur printer to a data so urce depe nds on the commun ication option s
installed in the printer.
Optional Print Servers:
• ZebraNet Wireless Print Server. This option is available for 105SL printers with serial
number greater than 64 00356. For more informati on on this option, see the ZebraNet
Wireless Print Server User Guide (Zebra part numbe r 1342 2L-00 1).
• ZebraNet 10/100 Print Server (10/100 PS). For more information on 10/1 00 PS, see the
ZebraNet 10/1 00 Print Server User and Refer ence Guide (Zebra part number
47619L-001).
• ZebraNet PrintServer II (PSII). For more information on PSII, see the PrintServer II User
and Referen ce Gu id e (Zebra part number 4553 7L).
Standard interfaces: the RS-232 DB-9 serial data port and the IEEE 1284 compliant
bidirectional par al l el port. For further information, see Data Ports on page 59.
Serial Port Depending on the d ate of manufacture, yo ur Zebra 105SL printer may be
equipped with either a DB-25 serial connector or a DB-9 serial connector.
Communicating using a serial data port (see Figure 7 for a DB-25 serial interface connector
and Figure 8 for a DB-9 serial interface connector) requires choosing the baud rat e, number of
data bits, stop bits, parity , and handshake (default settings are 9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit,
no parity, and
XON/XOFF). Parity only applies to data transmitted by the printer since the
parity of received data is ignored. See Serial Data Port on page 60 to configure the
communication parameters. The value s select ed must be the same as those used by the host
equipment connected to the printer.
Note • If you have the DB-9 serial interface connector, RS-422 and RS-485 serial data ports
are available through an ad apter. Contact your Zebra distribu tor for details.
