General installation conditions
1. Do not install CoxDENS
®
PPs Flex in areas where
ambient air temperature exceeds 150°C (302°F).
2. Do not store the CoxDENS
®
PPs Flex system in a
corrosive environment and keep protected from UV light
(ideally in its packaging).
3. The maximum continuous vertical vent length is 30m
(98’). Always refer to the manufacturer’s instruction for
appliance specifi c vent limitations.
4. The maximum allowable defl ection (bend) of the fl exible
vent is 45°, so that condensate does not collect in the
corrugations of the fl exible vent. Since the fl exible vents
can not be used in a complete horizontal position, the
connection between the appliance and the fl exible vent
must be done by Cox Geelen rigid vent system. Follow
the speci c instructions that are supplied with rigid vent
system.
5. CoxDENS
®
PPs Flex system expand and contract
slightly during heating cycles. This vent system has to be
supported in accordance with these instructions.
INTRODUCTION
Single wall CoxDENS
®
PPs Flex is third party certi ed to ULC-S636
standard for Class IIC rating (exhaust temperatures up to 110°C
(230°F)) and CE EN 14471. Certifi ed diameters are 60mm (2”),
80mm (3”), 110mm (4”). The following installation instructions are
in accordance with the requirements of section 4 of the ULC-S636
Standard.
Single wall CoxDENS
®
PPs Flex is a vent system for type BH
Gas-Venting, for use with ANSI Category II and IV gas burning
appliances (condensing boilers) with a max fl ue gas temperature
of 110°C.
In addition, please refer to the appliance manufacturer’s
instructions for restrictions to the total vent length or height,
number of elbows that can be used, sizing of the vent or specifi cs
as to appliance connections before proceeding with the installation
of this product. Appliance manufacturer’s installation instructions
take precedence over this document.
INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
Installation and Annual servicing of the CoxDENS
®
PPs Flex vent
system must be performed by a qualifi ed installer, service contractor
or gas supplier. The safe operation of a system is based on the use
of parts supplied by the manufacturer and the performance of the
system may be affected if the combination of these parts is not
used in the actual building construction. Acceptance of the system
is dependent upon full compliance with the installation instructions.
Approvals/Codes
The installation has to conform to all relevant local, State, Provincial
or National codes. Single wall CoxDENS
®
PPs Flex venting system is
approved for use under ULC-S636 Class II-C gas-fi red appliances
with a maximum fl ue gas temperature of 110°C (230°F). Cox Geelen
guarantees Single wall CoxDENS
®
PPs Flex up to a maximum fl ue
gas temperature of 120°C (248°F).
All penetrations of fi re rated walls, fl oors, and ceilings must comply
with national and local building codes and regulations, and be
approved by the local regulatory authority and/or building inspectors.
