5.4 Purge Gas Requirements and Hazardous Area Systems
TheTDLS220Analyzerrequiresacontinuousnitrogen(optionallyinstrumentair)gaspurgetopreventambient
oxygeningresstotheopticalpath,whenoxygenisthemeasuredgas.Theowratecanbeminimizedaslong
asitpreventsanyambientoxygeningresstothemeasurementopticalpath.Otherpurgegasesmaybeusedas
long as they do not contain any of the measured gas and a clean, dry, etc.
Forhazardousareaoperation,thesamenitrogenpurgegasisusedtopurgetheentireanalyzer(includingnon-
opticalpathsectionssuchastheelectronics).Refertopurgediagramsbelow.
Insomeapplications,InstrumentAir(I/A)maybeusedasthepurgegas.Specialsoftwarecongurationsmust
beset-upunderthe“Congure”sectioncalled“Non-ProcessParameters”–refertosoftwaresectionofthis
manual for further details.
Theowratecanbeminimizedaslongasitpreventsanyambientoxygeningresstothemeasurementoptical
path.Otherpurgegasesmaybeusedaslongastheydonotcontainanyof
