Connecting Input Cables
Wiring to the Signal Input Terminals
WARNING
• Topreventelectricshock,makesurethatthepowersourceisturnedOFF.
CAUTION
• ExposingtheinputandoutputsignalcablesconnectedtotheMVtohightension
may damage the cables and the MV terminals. Do not stretch the cables to their
limit,andmakesurethattheterminalsarenotbeingpulledon.
•
To prevent fire, only use signal cables with a temperature rating of 70°C or above.
• Donotrunacurrentthroughanyoftheinputterminalsthatexceedsthevoltages
below. Doing so may damage the MV.
• Maximuminputvoltage:±60VDC

conditions)
• TheMVisaninstallationcategoryIIproduct.
Wiring Precautions
Takethefollowingprecautionswhenwiringtheinputsignalcables:
Whenusingascrewterminal,werecommendthatyouuseacrimp-onlugwithan
insulation sleeve (designed for 4-mm screws).
Crimp-on lug (designed for 4 mm screws) with an insulation sleeve
Whenusingaclampterminal,werecommendthatyouusethefollowingkindofcable:
• Conductivecross-sectionalarea:0.08mm
2
to 1.5 mm
2
(AWG28 to 16)
• Strippedsection:Approx.7mm
Take measures to prevent noise from entering the measurement circuit.
• Movethemeasurementcircuitawayfromthepowercable(powercircuit)andground
circuit.
• Ideally,theobjectbeingmeasuredshouldnotgeneratenoise.However,ifthisis
unavoidable,isolatethemeasurementcircuitfromtheobject.Also,groundtheobject
being measured.
• Shieldedwiresminimizethenoisecausedbyelectrostaticinduction.Connectashield
tothegroundterminaloftheMVasnecessary(makesureyouarenotgroundingat
two points).
• Tominimizenoisecausedbyelectromagneticinduction,twistthemeasurementcircuit
wires at short, equal intervals.
• Makesuretogroundtheprotectivegroundterminalthroughminimumresistance(less
than100Ω).
Whenusinginternalreferencejunctioncompensationonathermocoupleinput,
take measures to stabilize the temperature at the input terminal.
• Alwaysusetheterminalcover.
• Donotusethickwireswhichmaycauselargeheatdissipation(werecommenda
cross-sectional area of 0.5 mm
2
or less).
• Makesurethattheambienttemperatureremainsreasonablystable.Large
temperatureuctuationscanoccurifanearbyfanturnsONorOFF.
