Healthy Lawn,Healthy Environment
Feed your lawn regularly. Fertilizer applied at the right time in the right
amount can have a significant impact on the health of your lawn, which in
turn can benefit the environment. When combined with proper mowing,
thick, healthy lawns crowd out weeds. Healthy lawns are better able to
tolerate insects, drought, heat, and other environmental stresses.
Apply fertilizer only to the lawn to protect the environment. When fertilizer
is left on driveways, sidewalks, or patios, rain or watering can flush the stray
particles into the street, where it eventually makes its way to storm drains
and surface waters.
Leave the grass clippings on your lawn. Leaving grass clippings on your lawn
recycles plant nutrients back into the soil. Clippings contain the same
beneficial nutrients as fertilizer. Sweep or blow clippings from hard surfaces
back onto the lawn where these benefits can be realized.
Application tips for best results
For rectangular lawns
Apply two header strips across each end for a turning area.
Then apply back and forth in the longest direction.
For irregular-shaped lawns
Apply one header strip around the entire lawn for a turning
area, then apply back and forth.
Note: Each pass should be within 5 feet of each other to
ensure an overlap.
• Do not leave spreader open when making turns.
Clean up
• Never leave unused product in the spreader. Pour leftover
material back into the package and seal package tightly.
• If product lands on any hard surface such as a
driveway, sidewalk, or road, sweep the product
back onto the lawn to keep it from being washed
into the storm sewers and ultimately surface waters.
• Clean spreader after use to maintain proper operation. Do not
allow product and/or rinse water to enter storm drains or sewers.
