Installation Instructions

Setting Posts
1.
Dig or auger post holes. The 4" x 4" Vinyl Posts
require a 10" DIAMETER HOLE, and must be at least
30" BELOW GRADE. In frost regions, the post holes
should be deep enough to extend below the frost line.
Assembling the Gate
Note: For optimal performance and aesthetics, we
recommend a Gate width of 40-1/2" (This is the width
of 4 pickets from the Richmond Fence Panel Kit.
2. Measure the distance between your Hinge and
Latch Posts. Trim the Richmond Fence Panel
assembly to 4-3/4" less than this measurement.
Note: The Top and Bottom Rails have tabs on
each end that must be trimmed off the panel to
create a flat face for the installation of the Gate
Jambs. (See Fig 4.)

2. The gate can be set up for Right or Left swing. The post
that will be used as your Hinge Side MUST HAVE A
4" x 4" INSERT for greater strength. (See Fig 2.)
1. On a flat surface, assemble the necessary width of
Fence Panels along with the Top and Bottom Rail
from the Richmond Fence Panel Kit. (See Fig 3.)
3. Slide the Gate Jambs (A) into place and square
up the entire assembly. Your gate width should
now measure 1-1/4" less than the distance
between Hinge and Latch Posts.
Ensure both Top and Bottom Rails and both
Gate Jambs are flush with all Panels
3. Inet the post into the hole, be sure it is aquare
and in-line with your string layout.
4. Pour concrete around the post approximately
6" at a tme. Tamp to eliminate air pockets, and
continually check for level.
5. Before the concrete sets, sight down the fence
line to be sure all posts align, and are at the same
height. High posts can be driven deeper by placing
a wooden block across the top and tapping down
with a hammer. Allow concrete to set 24-48 hours.
