Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to battery packs. Energizing appliance that have the switch on invites accidents. FEATURES KNOW YOUR LAWN MOWER See figure 1 The safe use of this product requires an understanding of the information on the product and in this owner’s manual as well as a knowledge of the project you are attempting. Before use of this product, familiarize yourself with all operating features and safety rules. BATTERY METER The battery meter measures the amount of charge remaining in the battery. GRASS CATCHER The grass catcher prevents grass clippings from being strewn across your lawn as you mow.
ASSEMBLY INSTALLING AND ADJUSTING HANDLE ASSEMBLY See Figures 2 Fig. 2 To lower the handle assembly: • Loosen the upper handle lock knobs (B). NOTE: Loosen the knobs (B) on the upper handle by turning them counterclockwise. • 3 Positions Lower the upper handle (C). Avoid pinching or trapping any power cords. OPERATION APPLICATIONS: WARNING: Do not allow familiarity with this type of product to make you careless. Remember that a careless fraction of a second is sufficient to inflict serious injury. You may use this product for the purpose listed below: • Mowing your lawn WARNING: WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields when operating this product. Failure to do so could result in objects being thrown into your eyes, resulting in possible serious injury.
OPERATION MOWING TIPS MULCHING TIPS • NOTE: Inspect the area where the mower is to be used, and remove all stones, sticks, wire, bones, and other debris that might be thrown by the rotating blade. • • • • • Make sure the lawn is clear of stones, sticks, wires and other objects that could damage the lawn mower blades or motor. Such objects could be accidentally thrown by the mower in any direction and cause serious personal injury to the operator and others.
CHARGING THE BATTERY PACK Charge the battery packs only with Yardworks 20V Chargers. Allow at least 160 minutes of charge time for each 4.0Ah battery before initial use of the mower. Make sure the power supply is normal household voltage, 120 volts, 60Hz, AC only. The battery charger should be operated in temperatures between 39 and 104 degrees F (4 °C and 40 °C).
MAINTENANCE WARNING: WARNING: When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause product damage. Always protect hands by wearing heavy gloves and/or wrapping the cutting edges of the blade with rags and other material when performing blade maintenance. Failure to heed this warning could result in serious personal injury.
MAINTENANCE NOTE: Make certain all parts are replaced in the exact order in which they were removed. • Torque the blade nut down CLOCKWISE using a torque wrench (not provided) to ensure the bolt is properly tightened. The recommended torque for the blade nut is 350-400 in. lbs. SHARPENING THE BLADE See Figure 13 For best mowing performance, the mower blade must be kept sharp. A dull blade does not cut grass evenly and overloads the motor.
MAINTENANCE STORING THE MOWER See Figure 15 • • • • • • • • • WARNING: Remove the switch key and battery packs, and store in a secure location out of the reach of children. Before storage, wipe any dirt or debris from the battery area. Turn mower on its side and clean grass clippings that have accumulated on the underside of the mower deck. Wipe the mower clean with a dry cloth. Check all nuts, bolts, knobs, screws, fasteners, etc., for tightness. Inspect moving parts for damage, breakage and wear.
TROUBLESHOOTING Problem The mower fails to start Possible cause The safety key is not inserted in the slot. Insert the safety key. The battery packs are depleted. Charge the battery packs.
