Oval Cedar Gazebo Assembly Manual Congratulations on purchasing your new Gazebo. Thank you for your purchase and welcome to the YardCraft Family. This manual is designed to simplify the assembly process, however we recommend having an experienced carpenter involved in the project. Please read through the entire manual before starting! The Gazebo put together for this manual was a 12’x18’ Oval. This manual can also be used for other sizes. It took 3 men, approximately 10 hours using the tools shown.

Floor Assembly Step:1 Step:2 Set your Gazebo Package as close to the building site as possible. Remove protective shrink wrap. Do not unwrap until you are ready to build. Keep dry and protected until you are ready to assemble the Gazebo. Step:3 Step:4 Notches 13’ Start by laying out the center floor section. Locate the Outside Straight Cut Band Board. Place approximately 13’ apart, as shown. Locate the two Center Floor Joist With Notches.
Floor Assembly Step:7 Step:8 Make the Single Joist flush with the Band Board, both ways, and fasten with two (2) 3” Screws through Pre-Drilled Holes. Fasten the opposite side of the Single Floor Joist to the Center Floor Joist. Make flush on top and align with the mark on the Center Floor Joist. Step:9 Step:10 Mark Using Steps 7 & 8, fasten all remaining Single Floor Joist. Align the Single Floor Joist with the marks on the Band Board and Center Floor Joist.
Step:13 Floor Assembly Step:14 Two (2) 3” Screws at each Single Joist location, one (1) on each side of the Center Floor Joist. Locate the Double Floor Joist. Step:15 Step:16 Reverse the Screws so the two (2) plies come apart. Double Floor Joist apart. Only Do This On Two of The Double Joists. Step:17 Step:18 Notches Notches Long Point Against Floor Section Place one Ply of the Floor Joist from Step 16 on each side of the Floor Sections. See Step 18 for the alignment of the cut on the Joist.
Step:19 Floor Assembly Step:20 Angle Floor Band Board Locate the Angle Cut Floor Band Board. Hold in place as shown. Push the Angled Band Board tight against the Straight Band Board. While holding this in place, Fasten the Floor Joist Ply to the Single Floor Joist with 2 1/2” Screws. Step:21 Step:22 Fasten all remaining screws at these locations. Repeat Steps 19-21, to install the remaining three Joists. Step:23 Step:24 Locate the remaining Double Floor Joists.
Step:25 Floor Assembly Step:26 Locate the Floor Joist Connection Plate. Place in the notch. Step:27 Step:28 Align the Double Floor Joist as shown, and fasten the Joist Connection Plate with 3” Screws into each pre-drilled hole. Total of ten (10) Screws. Connection Plate installed. Step:29 Step:30 Install the second Floor Joist Connection Plate, as shown in Steps 25-28. Locate the Angle Cut Floor Band Boards.
Step:31 Floor Assembly Step:32 Place all the way around the outside. Continue placing all the Angle Cut Floor Band Boards around the outside. Step:33 Step:34 Align Here Starting against the Center Floor Section, fasten the Angle Cut Floor Band Board with two (2) 3” Screws through pre-drilled holes. Align the other end with the center of the Double Floor Joist and fasten with two (2) 3” Screws through Pre-Drilled Holes.
Floor Assembly Step:37 Step:38 All Floor Band Boards installed. Locate the Diagonal Floor Joists. Step:39 Step:40 45° 45° 45° 22.5° 22.5° 22.5° Place the 45° angle against the Double Joist and the 22.5° against the Band Board Align the center of the 2x4 Single Joists with the pre-drilled holes in the 2x4 Band Board and fasten using two (2) 3’’ Brown Screws through pre-drilled holes. Step:41 Step:42 Fasten the 45° angled end to the Double 2x4 Joist using two (2) 3’’ Brown Screws.
Step:43 Floor Assembly Step:44 Locate the Straight Cut Floor Deck Boards and the Angled Deck Boards. Starting with the longest Angled Deck Boards, Place the Deck Boards all the way around the perimeter. Step:45 Step:46 Make Sure the overhang is consistent along the entire outside edge of the Floor Board. Step:47 Step:48 Keeping the overhang consistent along the edge, align both ends of Floor Board at center of Double Joist.
Step:49 Floor Assembly Step:50 Continue around the outside of the floor and place the adjacent Deck Board against the first Deck Board and fasten using Step 48. Work your way around the perimeter and install all remaining Deck Boards. Step:51 Step:52 Locate the rest of the Straight Cut Floor Deck Boards and place in line, as shown. Step:53 Step:54 Locate the smaller Deck Board and place in the center of the Floor Section. Place the smaller Deck Board directly in the center, as shown.
Step:55 Floor Assembly Step:56 Fasten at both ends using one (1) 2 1/2” Screw through Pre-Drilled Hole. Install two (2) more Screws in the center, as shown. Step:57 Step:58 There will be a gap between each Deck Board. Adjust the Deck Boards so there is an equal gap between each Deck Board. Align the Deck Board with the center of the Double Floor Joist. Fasten with 2 1/2” Screws through pre-drilled holes. Two (2) Screws on each side of each Floor Board.
Floor Assembly Step:61 Step:62 Equal Distance Pre-drill one (1) 3/16” hole through Deck Boards into the Band Board below. Then fasten using 2 1/2” Screw. Using the pattern shown above, pre-drill a 3/16” hole through Deck Boards at the Single Joist Locations. Then fasten using 2 1/2” Screws. Step:63 Step:64 Locate the second round of the Angled Deck Boards. Place the Angled Deck Boards all the way around. Step:65 Step:66 Ensure Deck Boards are tight together.
Step:67 Floor Assembly Step:68 Continue fastening through pre-drilled holes all the way around. Using Steps 63-67, install all remaining Angled Deck Boards. Step:69 Step:70 Using a 3/16” Drill Bit, drill through the decking into the single joist and fasten using 2 1/2” Screws. Use one (1) Screw in each Deck Board. Locate the Center Deck Boards. Step:71 Step:72 Place Center Deck Boards, as shown. Space equally and fasten with six (6) 2 1/2” Screws through pre-drilled holes.
Step:73 Floor Assembly Step:74 Install the Center Deck Boards on the opposite side as shown in steps 71 and 72. Locate the Straight Cut Cedar Floor Trim. Step:75 Step:76 Place the Cedar Floor Trim underneath the Deck Boards, in against the Band Board. Make flush with the corner of the Band Board and up against the Deck Boards. Fasten with three (3) 1 5/8” Screws through pre-drilled holes. Step:77 Step:78 Three (3) 1 5/8” Screw Locations. Locate the Angle Cut Cedar Floor Trim.
Step:79 Floor Assembly Lay the remaining Cedar Floor Trim around the perimeter. Step:80 Align the adjacent Cedar Floor Trim and fasten through pre-drilled holes with three (3) 1 5/8” Screws through pre-drilled holes. Step:81 Using step 80, install all remaining Cedar Floor Trim.
Step:82 Post and Rail Assembly Step:83 Locate the 2x4 Cedar Hand Rail and place on a clean flat surface. Locate the 1x3 Spindles. Place the 1x3 Spindles into the Pockets of the 2x4 Cedar Hand Rail. Step:84 Step:85 Spindles Placed into 2x4 Hand Rail. Locate the 2x3 Bottom Rail and Place 1x3 Spindles into the Pockets in the 2x3 Bottom Rail as shown. Step:86 Step:87 Fasten 1x3 Spindles to 2x3 Rail using six (6) 1 1/4” Screws through pre-drilled holes. See next Step for Screw locations.
Step:88 Post and Rail Assembly Step:89 Repeat Steps 82-87 to assemble all remaining Bottom Rail Sections. Place the assembled Bottom Rail Sections off to the side. Step:90 Long Point Locate the Outside Post Plies and place on a clean level surface. Step:91 4’ Ensure the long Point is facing up. Step:92 Place the second Outside Post Ply approximately 4’ away from the first one, as shown. Step:93 Spacer Block Place the Brace Section Between the two Posts Plies.
Step:94 Post and Rail Assembly Step:95 Place the Brace Section in the notch on the Outside Post Ply. Push Brace sections Tight against Post Ply and attach using two (2) 3” Screws Through pre-drilled holes. Step:96 Step:97 Fasten the other end of the Brace Section to the second Post Ply. Brace Section installed. Step:98 Step:99 Bottom Rail Section Spacer Block Place a Bottom Rail Section between the Post Plies, on top of the Spacer Block, as shown.
Step:100 Post and Rail Assembly Step:101 Push Bottom Rail section Tight against Post Ply and attach using four (4) 3” Screws through pre-drilled holes. Fasten using two (2) 3” Screws through pre-drilled holes. Step:102 Step:103 Fasten the opposite end of the Bottom Rail Section to the second Post Ply, as shown in Steps 99-101. Railing and Brace Sections installed. Step:104 Step:105 Assemble the remaining Post & Rail Sections as shown in Steps 89-102.
Post and Rail Assembly Align Here Step:106 Align the angle cut of the Inside Post Ply with the Outside Post Ply. Fasten using 2 1/2” Screws through pre-drilled holes. Step:108 Inside Post Ply Second Section Step:107 Place a Post & Rail Section against the first section. Step:109 First Section Push tight against the first section and fasten with 2 1/2” Screws through pre-drilled holes. Fasten with 2 1/2” Screws through all pre-drilled holes.
Step:112 Post and Rail Assembly Step:113 Center the L Bracket on the Post and fasten with four (4) 2 1/2” S S Screws through the holes in the L Bracket. Install one (1) L Bracket on the outside of each Post. Measure the opening at the top of the doorway. Step:114 Step:115 Deck Board Splice Now measure the bottom of the doorway and adjust to make the same dimension as the top. Keeping the door measurement in place, Space each post an equal distance from the edge of the floor.
Step:118 If You did not purchase a floor with your gazebo, use the following steps to fasten the post. 1/1 67 1/16” +/- 67 Use the diagram below for the Post spacing. 6” 67 +/ - ” /16 1 - +/ 134 1/16” +/- 63” 67 /- 67 1/16” +/- 6 7/16” +/- 67 1/16” +/- + 16” / 71 63” 58 7/8” +/- 58 7/8” +/- 63” 146 67 1/16” +/- /- 6” + 7/1 146 1/1 6” +/ - If attaching to concrete, use 1 3/4” Concrete Screws. If attaching to wood deck, use 4” Timber Lock Screws.
Roof Assembly Step:119 Step:120 Locate the Ridge Piece. Place on a clean, level surface with the notches facing up. Step:121 Step:122 Pre-drilled hole Locate the Straight Cut Roof Band Board. Locate the Rafter With Pre-Drilled Hole. Step:123 Step:124 Pre-Drilled Hole Place the Rafter With Pre-Drilled Hole in between the other two Boards. Ensure the Pre-Drilled Hole is towards the Straight Cut Roof Band Board. Place another Rafter With Pre-Drilled Hole on the opposite side.
Step:125 Roof Assembly Step:126 Make the Straight Cut Roof Band Board flush both ways with the Rafter With Pre-Drilled Hole. Fasten with two (2) 3” Screws. Repeat this step on the Rafter With Pre-Drilled Hole at the opposite end. Center the Rafter Without Pre-Drilled Hole, with the holes drilled in the Band Board. Fasten using two (2) 3” Screws. Step:127 Step:128 Align Here Screws You will need to Lift the Ridge Piece and the Rafter to assemble this side.
Step:131 Roof Assembly Step:132 Take two Double Rafters apart to make four Pieces. Place one Rafter ply on each side of the Roof Panel Assembly. Notice the angle cut direction on the Rafter plies. Step:133 Step:134 Align Here Angle Cut Band Board Locate the Angle Cut Roof Band Board. Hold in place as shown. While holding the Rafter Ply in place, you may remove the Angle Cut Band Board and fasten the Rafter Ply to the Roof Assembly with 2 1/2” Screws through pre-drilled holes.
Step:137 Roof Assembly Step:138 The Compression Ring will now come apart as shown here. Lift the Top Boards off. Step:140 Step:139 Top Boards Turn the Top Boards and place them back onto the Compression Ring. Replace the Screws back into the top of the Compression Ring. Step:141 Step:142 You will now have two pieces of Compression Rings. Prepare Roof Bolts by putting one (1) Acorn Nut and one (1) Washer on one end of the Roof Bolts as shown. Do not tighten Acorn Nut.
Roof Assembly Step:143 Step:144 Lift the first Roof Panel in place. Set the Roof Panel on top of the Post, as shown. Step:145 Step:146 Keep pushing up until the holes on the Rafters are aligned with the holes on the Post. Using a Prepared Roof Bolt, Push through the pre-drilled holes. Step:147 Nut Step:148 Washer Install a Washer and Acorn Nut on the opposite end of the Roof Bolt. Only hand tighten for now.
Step:149 Roof Assembly Step:150 Repeat Steps 146-148 to fasten the opposite end of the Roof Panel. While holding the first Roof Panel up, Place the Second Roof Panel in place using Steps 144-148. Step:151 Step:152 Align the two Ridge Pieces and install the Roof Bolts at these four (4) Locations. Locate one of the Compression Rings. Step:153 Step:154 Push the Compression Ring up against the Ridge Pieces. Fasten to the Rafter with 3” Screw through pre-drilled hole.
Step:155 Roof Assembly Step:156 Two 3” Screw locations. Push the Compression Ring against the Rafters and fasten with one (1) 3” Screw. Step:157 Step:158 Fasten the opposite end with one (1) 3” Screw. Install the Compression Ring on the opposite end, as shown in Steps 152-157. Step:159 Step:160 Locate the remaining Double Rafters. Set the Double Rafter on the Post and against the Compression Ring.
Step:161 Roof Assembly Step:162 Using the Prepared Roof Bolts, push through the pre-drilled holes in the Post and Double Rafter. Install the Washer and Acorn Nut. Only hand tighten for now. Step:163 Step:164 Fasten the opposite end of the Double Rafter to Compression Ring with 3” Screws through pre-drilled hole. Install the remaining Double Rafters, as shown in Steps 160-163. Step:165 Step:166 All Double Rafters installed. Locate the Angle Cut Roof Band Board.
Step:167 Roof Assembly Step:168 Align Here Screw Locations Align the Angle Cut Roof Band Board with the Straight Cut Roof Band Board and fasten with two (2) 3” Screws through pre-drilled holes. Step:169 Align the opposite end with the center of the Double Rafter. Fasten with two (2) 3” Screws through pre-drilled holes. Step:170 Screw Location Align Here Continue working all the way around to install the remaining Roof Band Boards, as shown in previous steps.
Roof Assembly Step:173 Step:174 Cross Ties Locate the Cross Ties. Place the Cross Tie onto the Rafters. Align the cut on the Cross Tie with the top of the Rafters. Step:175 Step:176 Fasten with six (6) 3” Screws through all pre-drilled holes. Fasten the opposite end with 3” Screws through all pre-drilled holes. Step:177 Step:178 Using Steps 174-176, install the remaining Cross Ties at these locations. Locate the Straight Cut T&G Board.
Step:179 Roof Assembly Step:180 Align the Straight Cut T&G board with the Band Board and with the center of the Double Rafter at each end. Keeping the T&G Board aligned, fasten with two (2) 2” Nails at each Rafter location. Step:181 Step:182 Two (2) 2” Nails at each Rafter location. Continue installing the T&G Boards. Two (2) 2” Nails at each rafter location. Step:183 Step:184 Install the Straight Cut T&G Boards on the opposite side, as shown in Steps 178-182.
Step:185 Roof Assembly Step:186 Align with the center of the Double Rafters and with the Band Board. Fasten with two (2) 2” Nails at both ends and one (1) 2” Nail in the center. Continue installing the T&G Boards all the way up to the top. Fasten each T&G board with two (2) 2” Nails at each end. Step:187 Step:188 Continue installing all remaining T&G Boards as shown in Steps 184-186. After all the T&G Boards are installed, locate the Cedar Fascia Trim.
Step:191 Roof Assembly Step:192 Fasten the Cedar Fascia Board to the Band Board with 1 5/8” Screws through pre-drilled holes. Three (3) 1 5/8” Screw locations. Step:193 Step:194 Install all remaining Cedar Fascia Boards, as shown in Steps 189-192. All Cedar Fascia Boards installed.
Step:195 Post Trim Step:196 Place the Notch against the L Bracket Locate the Post Trim. Notice the notch on the one end of the Post Trim. Step:197 Place against the outside of the Post. Step:198 Set on top of the L Bracket and center on Post. Fasten with 1 5/8” Screws through pre-drilled hole. Fasten with five (5) 1 5/8” Screws through all Pre-Drilled holes. Install one Post Trim on the outside of each Post as shown in step 196 and 197. Step:199 Step:200 Locate the Post Trim with no notches.
Step:201 Post Trim & Hurricane Plates Step:202 Keeping the Post Trim centered on the Post, work your way down and fasten with five (5) 1 5/8” Screws through each pre-drilled hole. Install the Post Trim on the inside of each Post, as shown in Steps 199-201. Step:203 Step:204 Locate the Hurricane Plates and bend slightly in the center. Place the Hurricane Plate on top of the 1x6 T&G Boards.
Step:206 Tar Paper Step:207 Align at the bottom Locate the Pre-Cut Tar Paper. Place the Large piece at the bottom as shown. Center the Tar Paper onto the Roof Section. Fasten Tar Paper to T&G Boards using a Hammer Tacker. Step:208 Step:209 Overlap Place the Small Tar Paper piece on the top side. Overlap the Small piece over the Large piece by 2”. Fasten using a Hammer Tacker. Install the Tar Paper on all the Angled Section, as shown in Steps 206-208.
Step:212 Tar Paper Step:213 Hip and Ridge Tar Paper Install the remaining Straight Cut Tar Paper, as shown in Steps 210-211. Fasten the Tar Paper approximately every 8” in the center. Locate the Hip & Ridge Tar Paper. Center on the splice of the Roof Sections. Step:214 Step:215 Fasten to T&G using a Hammer Tacker. Roll all the way up to the top. Use a Hammer Tacker to fasten to T&G approximately every 6”.
