Replacing the Belt
Tools:
Hex Wrench 7/16”, 1/2”, 9/16”, 3/4”.
1. Stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug and check that the engine has
stopped completely.
2. Remove the bolts holding the belt shroud in place and remove.
3. Loosen the engine bolts. (fig 2 , step 1)
4. Remove belt tension by turning the engine tensioner bolt
counterclockwise. (fig 2, step 2)
5. Push the engine away from the tow bar.
6. Replace belts
7. Apply tension to the belt by flexing the belt with the thumb at
approximately half the length between clutch and pulley. Belt shall not
deflect more than 1/2”.
8. Align belt with engine align bolt. Align with a flat straight bar touching
pulley lips. Avoid touching the clutch with the flat bar (fig 8-2).
