Replacing the Belt
Tools:
Hex Wrench 7/16”, 1/2”, 9/16”, 3/4”.
1. Stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug and check that the engine has
stopped completely.
2. Remove the bolts holding the belt shroud in place and remove.
3. Loosen the engine bolts. (fig 2 , step 1)
4. Remove belt tension by turning the engine tensioner bolt
counterclockwise. (fig 2, step 2)
5. Push the engine away from the tow bar.
6. Replace belts
7. Apply tension to the belt by flexing the belt with the thumb at
approximately half the length between clutch and pulley. Belt shall not
deflect more than 1/2”.
8. Align belt with engine align bolt. Align with a flat straight bar touching
pulley lips. Avoid touching the clutch with the flat bar (fig 8-2).
