Prior to rebuilding, check the compression. If
compression is within specs, consider rebuilding
the carburetor

• If the unit has a compression release button, be
sure to close when checking
• If compression is below 60 PSI. further engine
analysis is necessary
If the unit is a 4 cycle, check and adjust the valve
clearance prior to testing compression
