HYDRAULIC STEERING SYSTEMS
There are many benets to be gained from using a system such as this
with a Yamaha outboard. They’re safe and, because of the design, highly
durable. Unlike most other systems, the cylinder (Yamaha gray) is front
mounted and is directly xed to the engine. This means when the
engine is tilted, the hoses between the cylinder and helm do not
move together.
The Y33 front-mounted helm is supplied as standard in the kits and can
be used for both single and twin engine/single cylinder installation. A
Y39 helm is required for twin engine/twin cylinder installation, offering
a smoother operation and the correct amount of wheel turns. Both Y33
and Y39 helms are available in front and rear mounted versions.
In addition, the Y33 and the Y39 Helm is available in a “tilt” version.
The Y28 Tilt system ts on these helms to adjust the steering wheel
position for maximum comfort and control. A square and round ange
are separately available to ensure intermediate installation of the
pumps in the dashboard.

MECHANICAL STEERING SYSTEMS
All these systems are highly responsive and are designed and built to our
exacting standards of safety, durability and comfort.
The Y22 and Y23 helms (or Y20 kit) can be used for all types of
applications. Our Y23 helm has an extra self-centring mechanism, which
means the wheel won’t return automatically to the straight ahead position
after a turning. Both these helms have to be installed with a Y25 Bezel,
which is available in 20° and 90° versions.
Number of turns lock-to-lock:
Y12 - approx 2.5 Y22/Y23 - approx 3.8 Y24 - approx 3
The Y26 and Y27 helms are similar to Y22 and Y23, offering the same great
quality and handling, but feature a 5-position tilt mechanism to adjust the
steering wheel position for maximum comfort and control. The range of
tilt is 48°.
To make installation quick and easy, there’s a fast-connect system to
attach the cable to the helm, and cables in all systems come with stainless
steel ends. The Y12 (or Y10 kit) is for smaller boats with engines below
40kW (or below 55hp). Y24 can be applied if conventional and simpler
systems are required.
