5. Set the shift drum assembly and transmis-
sion gears in the neutral position.

S lower crankcase

Before tightening the crankcase bolts, make
sure that the transmission gears shift cor-
rectly when the shift drum assembly is
turned by hand.
S Carefully position the shift forks so that they
mesh smoothly with the transmission gears.
S Mesh shift fork center with the 2nd pinion gear

on the main axle.
7. Install:
S lower crankcase bolts
S upper crankcase bolts
Tighten the bolts in the tightening sequence
cast on the crankcase.
