Cylinder check
1. Eliminate the carbon deposits (using a
rounded scraper 1).
2. Check the cylinder water jacket. Clean or
replace the cylinder if there is corrosion
or mineral deposits.
3. Check the cylinder inner surface.
Replace if there are score marks.
4. Measure the cylinder bore D (using a
cylinder gauge). Replace the cylinder
and piston as a set if out of specification.
TIP:
Measure the cylinder bore parallel to and at a
right angle to the crankshaft. Then, average
the measurements.
Cylinder installation
1. Install the cylinder, and then tighten the
bolts to the specified torque in the order
1, 2, and so on.
