Turn on the printer and press the ‘ink’ button. When the printhead has moved to the cartridge removal position unplug the mains cable from the printer. This allows the printhead to be manually moved. Remove the printhead lid. Use the small screwdriver provided to prise the hinges open. Remove any cartridges from the machine. Remove all the small rubber stoppers from the bottles.
Repeat this for each colour then fit the air filters supplied. Place the bottles to the right of the printer as shown. NEVER PLACE THE BOTTLES HIGHER THAN THIS (If the bottles are placed higher than the ink may siphon into the bottom of the printer) Move the printhead as far to the left of the carriage as possible. Feed the cartridges under the printer housing...
… and move the printhead back to the cartridge removal position. Remove the elastic band (if not already done so) fit the cartridges and press them firmly down into place. Remove the backing tape and fit the tube support arm as shown. Position this arm up so it is lined up with the tubes on the cartridges. Remove the backing tape and fit the small tube clamp as shown.
Do not worry if you see a small amount of air in the tubes when you first install the system. This will quickly find it’s way to the top of the cartridges during the initial head charge. This tiny amount of air in no way impedes the full working order of the system. Plug the mains cable back in and turn on the printer. It will now go through the initial head charge. Your system is ready for use. Print a nozzle check to ensure all heads are printing ok.
After the ink charge print out a nozzle check to see if all the colours are printing correctly. If they are, you are set to go. If not, perform a head clean and test the nozzle check again. You should see an improvement on the next nozzle check. If still not perfect you can perform one or two more head cleans (do not overdo this exercise) until you get a good nozzle check. Occasionally a printer will stubbornly refuse to print a perfect nozzle check after a couple of head cleans.
Re-filling the bottles Remove the air filter and replace the small rubber stopper (that you did not throw away). Remove the larges rubber stopper. This sequence prevents the centre chamber filling with ink Re-fill the bottle the large opening. Replace the large rubber stopper first! Then remove the small stopper and replace the air filter. If this sequence is not followed and the centre chamber is allowed to fill with ink use the procedure on page 2 to remove the ink.
