About OmniPass Master Passwords
The fingerprint reader built into your Motion Tablet PC lets you use your
fingerprint as a “master password” for logging onto your Tablet PC,
accessing e-mail, e-banking, paying bills online, or accessing network
resources. For additional information not found in this User Guide, see the
OmniPass Help .
About Passwords
When you start your Tablet PC the first time and initialize Microsoft
Windows XP, you are prompted for an Administrator password. You can
enter any of the following:
• An Administrator password obtained from your network administrator
• An Administrator password of your own choosing
• No password; leave entry blank and go to the next step
IMPORTANT: For more information about initializing Windows XP, see the
section “Windows Initialization Procedure” in this chapter. If you do not set up a
password during Windows XP initialization, you must set one up later to use the
fingerprint reader.
Setting Up a Windows Password
NOTE: You may want to contact your System Administrator to see if you already
have a Windows password set up on your system.
When your Tablet PC starts the first time, you will see an OmniPass login. If
you want to use the fingerprint reader and do not already have a Windows
password, you must set one up. This is not difficult if you follow these steps:
1. (Optional) Tap Cancel to close the OmniPass dialog.
2. Tap start>Control Panel>User Accounts>Add.
3. Type in a user name and domain (if required; ask your System
Administrator) in the space provided.
4. Tap Next.
5. Select the Administrator access level.
6. Tap Next. Windows creates a new user account.
7. Tap Add Password and assign a user password to this account.
8. Write down your password in a safe location that is suitable for your
work environment.
Enrolling Your Password with OmniPass
1. After you set up a user
account, tap the OmniPass
key icon in the System Tray
to open the OmniPass Enrollment Wizard.
