Simply connect the XM Direct Home Tuner to the XM jack on your home audio system, place and aim the antenna for optimum reception, and you’re ready to start enjoying commercial-free music, plus live sports, news, talk & exclusive entertainment.

Home Installation There are two parts to setting up your Home Kit. First, connecting the XM Direct Home Tuner to your home audio system, then placing and aiming the Home Antenna. Let’s start with setting up the XM Direct Home Tuner set up. Step 1: Connect the XM Direct Home Tuner When installing the XM Direct Home Tuner in your home, choose a location in close proximity to your home audio system and also where the cable from the Indoor/ Outdoor Antenna can reach the XM Direct Home Tuner.
Connect the Indoor/Outdoor Antenna Once you have selected a location, connect the antenna to the ANT IN connector at the rear of the XM Direct Home Tuner. (After completing a few additional steps, we will work on the location of the antenna.) Selecting your XM-Ready home audio system’s XM input Turn on your XM-Ready home audio system and make sure to select the correct input for your XM Direct Home Tuner. Please refer to your home audio system’s manual for more information.
Home Installation Step 2: Install the Indoor/Outdoor Antenna To begin, try experimenting with the Home Antenna to get a feel for the reception in your location. Move the antenna around the room or from room to room. Aim it from different windows. In major metropolitan areas, you might find that you get great reception in several locations without worrying too much about aim and placement.

Still not sure which way is south or where to place your Home Antenna? Look up your location on an online mapping Web site that offers satellite views of street addresses where you can easily see which way is south, and what window may offer an unobstructed view of the sky.

SOFFIT If none of the previous solutions work for you, then the BEST reception can be achieved by mounting the antenna outdoors, with a clear view of the southern sky. Note that you will want to consider any potential hazards when you choose the mounting location, and possibly consider professional installation. SIRIUS XM Radio Inc. is not liable for any damages.
Once you have found a suitable location for the antenna, route the antenna cable to the XM Direct Home Tuner. Be sure you avoid any obstructions that could crimp, kink, or twist the cable. Use protective grommets wherever rough openings are encountered. If the antenna is installed outdoors, route the cable from the antenna location to the interior of the home, working the cable through the basement, under a window sill, etc., and make adjustments to take up cable slack as necessary.

If you have not wallmounted the antenna, turn the antenna slightly to the right or left and observe if the signal strength increases. For each tweak, allow a few seconds in each position to determine if the signal strength increases. SOUTH If the signal reception is good, but there is no audio, verify that the XM Direct Home Tuner has a good connection to the XM input on the back of your audio system.
Step 3: Activate your XM Direct Home Tuner Before you can enjoy commercial-free music, plus live sports, news, talk & exclusive entertainment, you need to activate your XM Direct Home Tuner. 1 Make sure your XM Direct Home Tuner is properly installed, turned on, and receiving the XM signal so that you can hear the audio on channel 1. 2 Make a note of your XM Radio ID.
4 20 When your service is activated, your XM Direct Home Tuner will receive all channels to which you have subscribed. At this time, if you press the channel up or channel down buttons on your home audio system, you can scroll and tune other channels. Activation usually takes 10 to 15 minutes, but may take up to an hour. We recommend that your home audio system remain on until activated.

Troubleshooting Your XM Direct Home Tuner has been designed and built to be trouble-free, but if you experience a problem, try this: • Check that all connections are firm and secure. • Make sure you have connected the XM Direct Home Tuner as described in this User Guide. • Check the home audio system’s front panel display or connected TV screen for system messages. If you see any of these items try the solution shown.
If you see this on the screen: Try this: Check XM Tuner • Confirm the XM Direct Home Tuner cable is fully connected to the home audio system. Channel Unauthorized • You selected a channel that is blocked or cannot be received with your XM subscription package. • Consult the latest channel guide at www. xmradio.com for the current list of channels. Channel Unavailable • The selected channel is not available. The channel may have been reassigned to a different channel number.
If this happens: You do not receive all the . channels to which you subscribed • If you have not yet activated your service, refer to the Activation section in the User Guide which accompanied your radio.
