Chapter 2 Knowing Your Printer
Main Printing Functions
This section provides an overview for main printing functions available with the 6030/
6050 Wide Format printer.
Logical Printers
The pen attributes, paper type, number of copies and other printer parameters can be set
up from either the printer control panel or Print Services on Web and saved as a logical
(or virtual) printer. It is recommended that Print Services on Web be used to make these
selections due to ease of operability.
By registering several parameter combinations with the 6030/6050 Wide Format printer
beforehand, it is possible to specify the print conditions from a client. This enables
printing to be carried out in accordance with the individual settings even when two
printing jobs with conflicting parameters are transmitted to the 6030/6050 Wide Format
printer simultaneously.
These parameter combinations for printing purposes are known as "logical printers".
A maximum of one hundred logical printers can be set up for each format (HPGL,
Versatec, TIFF, and CALS) with a single 6030/6050 Wide Format printer.
Logical printer names are assigned in accordance with the following. It is not possible to
change these names.
1st to 3rd digits [PLT] or [plt] character strings
4th to 5th digits (number) Two-digit number from 00 to 99
6th digit (format) Any of the following.
H: HPGL format
V: Versatec format
T: TIFF format
C: CALS format
However, the sixth digit can be omitted when Ethernet multi-data format functions are in
use. When this digit is omitted, the relevant software to be started up will be selected in
accordance with the extension log of the transmitted data file.
If a logical printer is selected that has a different sixth digit than the transmitted file
format, the file may be forwarded automatically to a logical printer with the extension
log of the transmitted file.
