5-1 Fiery Downloader
Fiery Downloader allows you to send PostScript files, EPS files, and PDF files directly
to the Fiery ZX without using the application they were created in. It also enables you
to manage printer fonts on the Fiery ZX.
You can use Fiery Downloader from a remote workstation as well as from the
Command WorkStation. Fiery Downloader requires a network connection—you
cannot use Fiery Downloader with the parallel port. For information on supported
networking protocols, see Getting Started.
NOTE: The Windows and Mac OS versions of Fiery Downloader are fundamentally the
same; differences are noted in this chapter. Where a window or dialog box is illustrated,
the Windows version comes first, followed by the Mac OS version.
Fiery Downloader
You can use Fiery Downloader to:
Print PostScript files, EPS files, and PDF files to the Fiery ZX
Check the status of the Fiery ZX
Manage the PostScript printer fonts stored on the Fiery ZX hard disk (this feature
requires that Publish Direct Connection is set to Yes in Fiery ZX Printer Setup)
NOTE: Fiery Downloader was designed specifically for the Fiery ZX; you cannot use it
with any other printer. You can also use standard LaserWriter downloaders, such as the
Adobe Font Downloader, with the Fiery ZX.
TO VIEW INFORMATION WITH FIERY DOWNLOADER:
1. Double-click the Fiery Downloader icon or choose Fiery Downloader from the
Start > Programs menu.
2. Select the Fiery ZX in the Chooser window and click OK (Windows) or
