SYSTEM OVERVIEW OF THE 4635 LASER PRINTING SYSTEM
1/2 inch cartridge tape drive
Two different models of the 1/2 inch cartridge tape are used with
the 4635. One is an 18 track drive and the other is an 18/36
track drive. While many of the features of the two drives are the
same, there are some differences. Both 1/2 inch cartridge tape
drives have the following features:
• An integrated controller and tape drive.
• A fully-featured IBM 3480/3490 compatible cartridge tape
subsystem.
• Uses a 3480/3490 type tape cartridge.
• The tape drive is self-threading.
The 18 track drive has a control panel including a 16 character
message display for messages and error information while the
18/36 track drive has an 8 character display.
