GLOSSARY-4 XEROX 4635 LASER PRINTING SYSTEM OPERATOR GUIDE
desktop Basic display screen of the PC UI.
DJDE Dynamic Job Descriptor Entry. Command within an input data
stream used to modify the printing environment dynamically.
dot Unit of measurement representing a fraction of an inch, for
example, 300 dots per inch (dpi). It may also be referred to as a
picture element (pixel) or spot.
dpi dots per inch. A measure of printer resolution.
dry ink Minute dry particles of resin and carbon black used to create
images. Dry ink can accept an electrical charge.
duplex printing Printing on both sides (front and back) of a page. See also
simplex printing.
E13B A font used in magnetic character recognition.
EBCDIC Extended Binary Coded Decimal Interchange Code. Coded
character set consisting of 8-bit coded characters. It can
accommodate 256 characters.
edgemarking Use of graphic objects, usually lines or boxes, that bleed off the
edge of the physical page. See also physical page.
elite Smallest size standard typewriter type: 12 characters per
horizontal inch. See also pica.
enabler Hardware devices or software packages that allow the printer to
perform in a specified manner.
End-of-Job Summary A tally of the number of sheets printed against the total number
of sheets expected.
Enhanced Sheet Tracking A full accounting on a report by report basis of every sheet fed
into the printer.
EOT end of tape.
Ethernet Xerox local area network (LAN) that allows data to be transmitted
by cable from one device to another, enabling it to share the
network.
FCB forms control buffer. Buffer for controlling the vertical format of
printed output.
FCG finishing configuration utility.
