OFFLINE PRINTING TASKS
2. Press the Select button.

“Offline Request” appears in the message display.
3. Press Select twice to place the tape drive offline.
Wait for the message display to indicate that the tape drive is
offline. The offline message is “OF:DIAG: *”.
Note: Usually the offline message appears within five
seconds. However, if a job is running, the message may not
appear for up to five minutes. If the message does not
appear within five minutes, notify your lead operator or
supervisor.
4. If a cartridge is loaded in the tape drive, unload it. (Refer to
the “Unload a 1/2 inch cartridge” section in this chapter.)
5. Press the Power switch to the OFF position by pressing down
on the side marked 0.
Emergency procedures In an emergency, power off the tape drive by pressing the Power
switch to the OFF position (0). To restore power after an
emergency shutdown:
1. Turn the Power switch to the ON position by pressing down
on the side marked 1. If the Power switch is not off, turn it
off before turning it on.
2. Wait until IPL COMPLETE appears in the message display.
3. Press the Unload button to unload any tape cartridge that
was in the transport when the power went off.
4. Place the tape drive online if necessary. (Refer to the “Place
the tape drive online” section earlier in this chapter.)
