The grain direction for paper is either short grain or long grain. You have long grain
whenever the fibres are parallel to the long side of the paper sheet.
A sheet is short grain when the fibres are parallel to the short side. Because the
“aligned” fibres give a paper it´s different strength and folding characteristics, the
grain direction is important to know for any Print Operator.
Depending on the planned application, (portrait or landscape, folding, multi-prints,
etc), you need to decide between short and long grain papers to fit the application.
