Applications
NanoTronix's Multi-function cable fault locator (Model No.: NCM-1000) is anexcellent and
highly accurate hand-held measuring instrument to check any problem and distance to
the event on the cable by using 3 different cable testing methods: MTDR (Metallic Time-
Domain Reflectometer), RFL (Resistance Fault Locator) and Capacitance measurement.
It also provides additional two functions, found in DMMs (Digital Multi-Meters),
measuring DC voltage and resistance.
MTDR function is basic testing method to see where the fault is occurred, which is ideal
for use on installation, maintenance or fault finding (complete open & short, partial open
& short, loading coils, loose connection, broken lines etc..) along with any type of metallic
cables such as Telephone line, Coaxial cables, UTP cables, CATV, CCTV, Coaxial cables
& Power cable whatever consists of at least 2 metallic conductors.
RFL function figures out the total length, distance to resistance happened , resistance
measurement along with the cable via Murray loop testing method.
The cable length or distance to open circuit point in case of extremely long cable up to
100km can be carried out with Capacitance function by selecting exact capacitance value
per unit length of cable being tested.
NCM-1000 performs all the measurement process automatically and displays the results
in the graphic and tabular forms through a color graphic TFT LCD screen with 640x480
pixel resolution. The instrument design allows the user to easily determine the conditions
of the cable being measured.
NCM-1000 is an excellent instrument for the cable installation, maintenance, repair after
fault finding regardless of the cable installation environment
