3. The safe distance between a branch
and debris to be felled and bystanders,
buildings, and other objects is at least
2 ½ times the length of the branch. Any
bystander, building, or object within this
distance is at risk from being struck by the
falling branch.
4. When cutting a limb that is under tension
be aware of spring back. When tensions
in the wood fibres are released the spring
loaded limb may strike the operator and/or
throw the tool out of control.
5. Always wear suitable safety equipment
such as no-skid heavy-duty shoes, goggles,
ear protection, face shield, and gloves
when operating this tool.
6. Ensure someone is nearby (at a safe
distance) in case of an accident.
7. Do not attempt to operate this tool when
in a tree, on a ladder, or standing any other
unstable support.
8. Keep proper footing and balance at all
times.
9. Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil
and grease.
10. Do not let the moving chain contact any
object at the tip of the guide bar.
11. Begin and continue cutting only with the
chain moving at full speed.
12. Keep your chain saw properly tensioned.
Check tension at regular intervals with the
motor stopped and the extension cord
disconnected.
13. When using the extended pole to cut the
branches on a tree, make sure to keep
a firm footing and balance. If need, use
the harness provided. Do not stand the
position where the branch may fall down.
14. A retreat path should be planned and
cleared as necessary before cuts are
started. The retreat path should extend back
and right about the way the branch may fall
down.
15. Before cutting is started, consider the
natural lean of the tree, the wind direction
to judge which way the branch will fall.
16. Remove dirt, stones, loose bark, nails,
staples, and wire from the tree where
cutting are to be made.
1 7. WARNING! The machine shall not be
used in any position that causes any part
to come within 10m of overhead electrical
lines;
18. WARNING! The operating positions are
dangerous; the operator may be struck by
falling branches or by those that rebound
after hitting the ground. Remove the
branches in sections.
19. Keep bystanders, pets 30m away.
