If you are using a disc with test signals or an external signal generator as the source used when
the output levels are being trimmed, you must use the Optimizer Mic. Follow the instructions in
AVR21EN Configuration/Using EzSet/EQ.
Once the reference level has been set, on the AVR front panel, press the Channel Select Button
[square 28] and
FRONT L LEVEL
will appear in the AVR Lower Display Line [square 34]. To
change the level, first press the Set Button [square 8], and then use the ◄/► Mode Adjust
Buttons [squares 7, 9] to raise or lower the level. DO NOT use the volume control, as this will
alter the reference setting.
Once the change has been made, press the Set Button [square 8] and then press the ◄/►
Mode Adjust Buttons [squares 7, 9] to select the next output-channel location that you wish to
adjust. To adjust the subwoofer level, press the ◄/► Mode Adjust Buttons [squares 7, 9] until
WOOFER LEVEL
appears in the Lower Display Line [square 34] or on-screen display. NOTE:
Speaker configuration and source configuration must be set to an appropriate surround mode to
be able to make adjustments to the sub woofer and specific surround speakers.
Repeat the procedure as needed until all channels requiring adjustment have been set. When all
adjustments have been made and no further adjustments are made for five seconds, the
AVR21EN will return to normal operation.
The Speaker Levels may also be adjusted using the full-OSD on-screen menu system. First, set
the volume to a comfortable listening level using the Volume Control [square 24, oval 20].
Press the AVR Button [oval 5] on the remote, then, press the MENU Button [oval 44] to bring
up the MAIN MENU. Press the ▼/▲ Navigation Button [oval 16] until the on-screen cursor is
next to the MAIN ROOM SETUP line. Press the Set Button [oval 18]. Press the ▼/▲ Navigation
Button [oval 16] so the cursor is next to: SPEAKERS. Press the Set Button [oval 18].
In the SPEAKERS ARE YOU SURE… screen, press the ▼/▲ Navigation Button [oval 16] to
move the on-screen cursor so that it is next to YES. Press the Set Button [oval 18]. Press the
▼/▲ Navigation Button [oval 16] so the cursor is next to: LEVELS. Press the Set Button [oval
18].
Press the ▼/▲ Navigation Button [oval 16] so the cursor is next to: TEST TONE. Press the Set
Button [oval 18]. Press the ◄/►Navigation Button [oval 16] so that OFF
is highlighted. This
will turn off the test tone and allow you to use your external test disc or other source material as
the reference. Then, use the ▼/▲ Navigation Button [oval 16] to select the channels to be
adjusted. At each channel position, use the ◄/► Navigation Button [oval 16] to change the
output level. Remember, the goal is to have the output level at each channel be equal when
heard at the listening position.
If you wish to reset all the levels to their original factory default of 0dB offset, press the
▼/▲Navigation Button [oval 16] so that the on-screen cursor is next to the RESET THESE
SETTINGS? line and press the Set Button [oval 18]. Press the ▼/▲ Navigation Button [oval
16] so that the cursor is next to YES. Press the Set Button [oval 18]. After the levels are reset,
resume the procedure outlined above to reset the levels to the desired settings. When all
adjustments are done, press the ▼/▲ Navigation Button [oval 16] to move the on-screen
cursor so that it is next to BACK TO SPEAKERS MENU and then press the Set Button [oval 18].
If you wish to go back to the main room menu to make other adjustments, press the ▼/▲
Navigation Button [oval 16] so the cursor is next to: BACK TO MAIN ROOM. Press the Set
Button [oval 18].
If you have no other adjustments to make, press the Exit Button [oval 17] to exit the menu
system.
