DeckStrip® Stain & Finish Remover is a ready-to-use,
universal exterior wood stripper for all types of traditional stains
and pigmented finishes. In just 15 minutes, DeckStrip will cut
through and remove old, weathered coatings including solid or
semi-transparent stains, tinted water repellents or other toner-
type transparent finishes. Oil-based, water-based and tough-to-
remove latex stains are easily removed in on application. Once
stripped, wood is restored to its bright, clean, natural look. Using
DeckStrip before re-application of a protective finish or stain
helps ensure proper adhesion, penetration and optimum
performance of the finish.

.RECOMMENDED USES .
FOR EXTERIOR USE ONLY
Use DeckStrip to strip and restore outdoor wood decks, fences,
siding, shakes & shingles, boat docks & boardwalks, outdoor
furniture & décor, gazebos & arbors, play sets and more.
WOOD TYPES
DeckStrip is suitable for use on all types of wood including
pressure-treated lumber and tannin-rich woods such as Cedar,
Redwood and exotic hardwoods such as Mahogany, Ipé, Teak
and more.
Note: New generation (non-CCA) pressure-treated lumber,
when initially installed may develop pronounced mildew growth
during the first few months of weathering. To reduce or avoid
mildew staining allow wood to weather for 1 to 3 months before
applying a protective coating. To immediately protect against
water damage, prep the surface with DeckBrite and pre-treat
with Wolman RainCoat
®
Oil-based Clear Water Repellent. Allow
6 months before applying a protective coating.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Pre-rinse grass, plants and scrubs surrounding the wood
structure to be stripped cleaned. Cover foliage to protect against
product exposure. Mask off siding and cover all wood surfaces
(siding and flashing) to prevent corrosion. Cover any exposed
aluminum surfaces to prevent corrosion. Protect adjacent
concrete surfaces from rinse water. Sweep away any surface dirt
and debris. If the surface is in direct sunlight and hot to the touch,
dampen with fresh water to cool. Remove any standing water
before beginning application.
PRODUCT APPLICATION .
APPLY
For best results, begin project when the outside temperature is
above 50°F (10C) and when 24 hours of precipitation-free
weather is expected. No mixing is necessary. Do not mix with
any other cleaning products. On a horizontal surface, apply
with a synthetic bristle brush or mop. On a vertical surface (siding
or fencing), apply with a synthetic bristle brush or deep-nap roller,
working from the bottom to the top of the structure. A pump
sprayer (with no aluminum parts) may also be used, but Safe
Handling directions must be followed to avoid exposure to over-
spray. Work end-to-end on 5-10 boards (20 square foot areas) at
a time, in order to maintain adequate surface wetness to allow
concentration of the stripping effort. Allow the product to sit for
10-15 minutes, keeping wet with additional stripper as needed.
SCRUB or PRESSURE WASH
Briefly scrub surface with Wolman Woodworx Deck Brush or
other stiff , short-bristle brush, using moderate pressure or
pressure-wash using a 40° tip and 1,500-2,500 psi for pressure-
treated wood and hardwood. Use 500-1,000 psi for Cedar and
Redwood. Move lengthwise with boards to avoid cut marks
across grain. Either technique helps ensure old surface is entirely
dissolved and removed.
RINSE
If pressure washing is not employed, after brushing, rinse
thoroughly with a garden hose, using the highest nozzle
pressure setting available. When dry, surface should appear
clean, bright and free of previous coating. Stubborn spots or
surfaces with build-up or multiple layers of coating may require a
second application. When finished stripping, rinse grass and
plant areas thoroughly.
CAUTION: Bare wood and/or coated surfaces can become
slippery when wet. Use caution when walking on wet surfaces.
SPECIAL NOTE: After stripping Cedar, Redwood or exotic
hardwoods, black tannin stains may rise to the surface and give
wood an overall darkened appearance. If this occurs, treat the
affected areas with Wolman Deck & Fence Brightener liquid
concentrate per label directions to restore the natural wood color.
DeckStrip is not designed to remove tannin bleed stains.
COVERAGE
DeckStrip 1.32 gallon container contents will cover approximately
200 square feet depending on coating type, surface porosity, and
method of application. One (1) gallon will cover approximately
150 square feet depending on coating type, surface porosity and
method of application.
DRY TIME
Allow the wood to dry thoroughly before applying a water-based
finish and at least 24 hours before applying an oil-based finish.
