Technische Regel für Arbeitsstätten Lüftung ASR A3.6/Januar 2012
(German Technical workplace regulation: ventilation ASR A3.6/january 2012, Ger-
many):
No remedial action will be necessary, if the CO
2
concentration [ml/m
3
] or [ppm] does not
exceed 1000.
NIOSH recommendations (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health):
250 - 350 ppm: normal outdoor ambient concentrations
1000 ppm indicates inadequate ventilation: complaints such as headaches, fa-
tigue and eye/throat irritation will be more widespread. 1000 ppm
should be used as an upper limit for indoor levels.
ASHRAE Standard 62-1989 (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-
Conditioning Engineers):
Upper CO
2
limit for indoor levels: 1000 ppm
OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration): 5000 ppm
Time weighted average over five 8-hour work days should not exceed 5000 ppm.
Germany, Japan, Australia, UK: 5000 ppm
Time weighted average over 8 hours should not exceed 5000 ppm.
