Customizing your Pen
Using Infrared Communications
To use infrared communications, aim the infrared window
on the back of your Pen at the infrared window on the
computer, external infrared device, or PDA. The two
infrared windows should be about 5 cm (2 in.) apart.
Customizing your Pen
The Pen Customization Wizard on the QuickLink CD-ROM
guides you through the following processes:
• Setting up communications between your Pen and
computer.
• Updating the components on your Pen from the CD-
ROM, if necessary.
• Adding language support to your Pen.
• Selecting default interface and scanning languages.
Setting Up Communications
Your Pen and computer cannot communicate successfully
unless the communications settings on the Pen and the
Desktop are correct. The Customization Wizard checks
these communications settings. If they are not correct, it
runs the Communications Wizard (see p. 110). Follow the
Wizard’s instructions to set the communications settings on
your Pen and computer.
Updating Pen Components
In some QuickLink Pen packages, the CD-ROM contains
newly-updated versions of Pen components that were not
available when the Pen was manufactured. The
Customization Wizard checks the components on the Pen,
and if there are newer versions of any of them on the CD-
ROM, it automatically replaces the older components.
