Learning to Scan
You are now in the Notes file. The red light in the Pen’s tip
begins to blink, indicating that you are ready to scan.
Note: The red light should blink whenever you are about
to scan. If the light does not appear, press 3 to return to
the previous menu, then repeat the steps that take you to
the scanning function.
Step 8. Scan the First Line of Text
1. Place the rollers about 1/2 inch (1 cm.) before the
beginning of the first word of the sample text below:
With a QuickLink Pen you can scan text anywhere,
even atop Mount Everest
2. Hold the Pen with the tip at a 75°-90° angle from the
text you are scanning, with the rollers firmly but lightly
touching the page. Place your forefinger near 3 and
your thumb near 2. (For left-handed scanning, place
your forefinger near 2 and your thumb near 3.)
3. Scan gently from left to right (or from right to left,
starting just after the last word of the sentence). Make
sure to keep the center of the Pen tip aligned with the
